A natural preservative, an essential mineral for the human body as well as a taste maker, salt is the most basic and very first item on your spice rack.

It comes in myriad forms, from various sources and in different states of rawness. And as wth most things, the less processed and fortified, the healthier.

Most commonly used forms are table and iodised. Then there is sindhanu namak, rock salt, mountain salt, sea salt, mota namak, pink salt, kala namak, Himalayan salt, to name a few, each derived from a different sources and in different ways.

Pink Salt Himalayan Salt

Rich in minerals, Himalayan salt is pink in colour and great to use instead of the refined table salt. Add it over cucumbers and fruits, or in your salad.

Sea Salt raw is best

Made from sea water, this is the oldest form of salt used by human. Used to pickle and preserve meats and vegetables from time immemorial, it can also be used to heal sore muscles and aching bones.
