Some easy access kitchen remedies for mild diarrhoea.
Who hasn't felt those pain pangs in the belly, the repeated runs to the loo. Overindulgence and tummy troubles are old pals, but sometimes its could just be snacking at the unsanitary street food stall, or simply trying something new that gets your stomach complaining.
When digestive chaos strikes in the form of diarhhoea, which is the best place to retreat to? You guessed it!! It is your kitchen! Try these simple remedies from your kitchen before setting out to the local pharmacy.
Soaked Sabja or Takmariya
sweet basil seeds
These tiny black shiny seeds are magic! Soak a teaspoon of them in a glass of water and wait a couple of hours till they swell into what looks like "frog eggs" i.e. they develop a circle of soft grey fluffy looking gel like halo around a black central dot. Then simply drink up, twice a day. Soaked overnight or at least 8 hours is recommended, but the readiness depends on the quality of the sabja.
Soaked Methi Seeds
fenugreek seeds
From your spice box, take half a teaspoon of methi seeds and soak in a full glass of water, minimum 6 hours/ preferably overnight. Make sure the seeds are clean. Then drink up, and chew the bitter methi seeds for maximum effect.
Dhana Dal
a popular Gujarati mukhwas
Small flat round crunchy seeds, commonly eaten post meals, will stop diarrhoea in its tracks. Eat a couple of tablespoons of this and enjoy life once again!
Dahi Chawal
curd rice
The perfect meal for days when your tummy rebels and your intestines make you sorry for being too indulgent.
